The Better Portion: Luke 10:38-42

The “portion” here comes from the Greek word meris, meaning share, part, or inheritance.

Jesus is saying: Mary chose the best share — the most valuable inheritance — which is ME. So, in this story, “the better portion” = Jesus Himself.

FRIENDSHIP is serious. Brotherhood, sisterhood, partnership, collaboration… all of it! Let’s share a table with one another with intention. As a “thank you” to your homeboy for letting you crash on his couch. A “thank you” to your homegirl for investing in your business. A “thank you” to the person who decided to trust the process with you. Most importantly, a “thank you” to God for aligning it all to work in your favor!

Jesus’s most prominent sign of friendship was fellowship. Joined at a table, inside a home, alongside a friend whom He trusted and showed themselves to be kind.
