About the Event

BrownGirlProverb. has curated a handful of events catering to men and women on their entrepreneurial journey. Hosting individuals in the music industry, leaders of non-profit organizations, educators, etc. However, with a background in youth development, Jermesha "Busy" Striblet-Holmes wants to provide spaces and ignite conversations for youth to actually benefit from.

___________

Although I am the only child to my two parents, I'm the oldest of 5 younger godsisters who have been just as present in my life as any other sibling. Since birth, they've known me to be nothing less than their big sister. Now, that the majority of them have reached the pre-teen, teenage and adult stages of their lives... things are changing! Conversations are developing, opinions are at an all-time high, and honestly, big sis has more questions than expected, lol.

So, why not create a space for understanding? This won't be a seminar, classroom assignment, or a place for ridicule and judgment. Besides, sisters are supposed to be your friends too! Instead, this will be a relaxed setting guided by myself and my sisters in business: Janet Maia, Bria Thompson and Shah'Tavia Young.

Janet Maia: Co-Creator of Beauty and Brains Org

Shah'Tavia Young: Licensed Therapist and Entrepreneur

Bria Thompson: HS English Teacher and Entrepreneur

Young ladies between the ages of 12 and 18 will be allowed to mingle amongst like-minded peers, speak on their feelings and thoughts, and get the opportunity to receive that "big sister" advice that they need from an amazing community of young women. This event will also be supported by community leaders and organizations such as Authoress Kia Smith, Pretty Girls Lead, College Mentoring Experience, The Big Sister Project, Goddess Mentoring, Holy Family School, Providence St. Mel School and so many more!

We are thankful to MY big sis, Mariah Fair, for opening the doors to her bookstore and coffee shop to host this event! Visit SoulFull Chicago!
